Preparing for Your First Session

Before your appointment:

  • Arrange transportation home, as you will not be able to drive.

  • Eat a light meal; avoid alcohol.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and bring any questions for your provider.

During the Session

Spravato is a nasal spray administered in the clinic. During treatment:

  1. A healthcare professional monitors you for side effects, such as drowsiness or dizziness.

  2. You will remain in the clinic for about two hours after administration.

  3. Your vital signs and mental state are regularly checked to ensure safety.

Frequency of Treatments

Treatment usually begins twice a week for the first month. As symptoms improve, sessions taper gradually under medical supervision. Spravato is typically combined with an oral antidepressant and ongoing therapy to maximize results.[1]

Aftercare and Monitoring

Because Spravato can affect alertness, transportation home is required. Our team provides guidance on lifestyle, therapy, and coping strategies to help maintain the benefits of treatment. Ongoing evaluation ensures progress is tracked and adjustments are made as needed.

Safety and Support

Spravato is only available in certified clinics, including Adult Family Health Services, to ensure safe administration and proper monitoring. While it is not a cure, it can provide meaningful relief for adults who haven’t responded to other treatments.[2]

Moving Forward

Understanding the treatment process can make Spravato less intimidating and help you feel confident in taking this important step. Our compassionate team is here to support you throughout the journey, offering hope and guidance every step of the way.
